Green Bay Packers (@2.6) vs Chicago Bears (@1.53)

Our Prediction:

Chicago Bears will win

Green Bay Packers – Chicago Bears Match Prediction | 21-08-2019

The Green Bay Packers are looking to forget a 2018 season where they won just six games. After an injury-plagued 2017 season, Aaron Rodgers started behind center for 16 games but still, the Packers ended up with their fewest wins during a season in a decade. That debacle resulted in the firing of long-time coach Mike McCarthy and the hiring of Ryan La Fleur.

The Bears were 7-2 SU at home last season while the Packers were just 1-7 SU on the road last year. I expect Rodgers to be healthy but I also expect Chicagos defense to step up as well. Im picking the Chicago Bears to beat the Green Bay Packers on opening week. Give me the home team here.

Green Bay is 1-5 SU in their last six games played at home. Green Bay is also 8-1 in their last nine road games against Chicago. The Bears are 8-2 SU in their last 10 games played. Chicago is 4-1 SU in their last five games played at home. Head to head, the Packers are 8-2 SU in their last 10 games against the Bears. The Packers are 3-7 SU in their last 10 games played.

Week 4: vs. Philadelphia Eagles

However, they know they could have accomplished more based on the way they played down the stretch. The Cowboys have a good nucleus of young players such as Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, Jaylon Smith, Demarcus LawrenceandLeighton Vander Esch. 2019 outlook:The Cowboys are coming off a strong 2018 season as they reached the divisional round of the playoffs.

Despite a heartbreaking loss to the Eagles in the wild-card round of the playoffs, this team has playoff experience and will be in the mix with the other Super Bowl contenders. The Bears begin the NFL's 100th year against the Packers in the Thursday night season-opener, a game that also will mark a new chapter in Green Bay with first-year coach Matt LaFleur. Chicago won the division last season for the first time since 2010 behind first-year coach Matt Nagy and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

2019 outlook:This was going to be an emotional game for Jordy Nelson because it would have been the first time playing at Lambeau Field since being cut by the Packers last year. However, the Raiders cut Nelson as soon as they traded for Antonio Brown and Nelson has now retired from the NFL. So they have a chance to add a few more star players to the roster to go along with Brown. But this game will be interesting nonetheless because the Raiders have three first-round draft picks this year.

Just how much the defense improves might be the biggest determining factor in how good the Packers can be this season. Drafting Darnell Savage and stealing Adrian Amos away from the Bears should improve the secondary as well. Preston and ZaDarius Smith were both signed in free agency to produce pressure off the edge. Defensively, the Packers will rely on a healthy infusion of new faces to keep opponents out of the end zone.

Week 12: at San Francisco 49ers

Ultimately, the Lions need more consistency from QB Matthew Stafford and the defense. 2019 outlook:The Packers had a better overall record than the Lions, but the Lions swept the Packers last season. So fans are expecting a big jump in Year No. They proved they can play with big boys as they blew out the New England Patriots and they hung tough with the Los Angeles Rams, but they had their share of bad losses last season. 2 of the Matt Patricia era.

In the past, the Packers appear to play their best with their backs against the wall. All in all, Green Bay has a lot on their plate in Week 16. Aaron Rodgers will have a great performance and the defense will do enough to keep the team in the game. I fully expect a last minute drive by Rodgers and the offense to complete a come from behind victory and keep the Packers slim playoff hopes alive. While it will be tempting to be scoreboard watching across the NFL, they must maintain their focus on the field. And thats exactly what theyll do.

Chicago has surprisingly had more success on the road when playing this NFC North rival, as two of its three victories occurred at The Frozen Tundra. As you can see, the Packers have been dominant in this spanwinning 12 of the past 15 matchups. It is interesting, however, to note that the last time the Bears beat Green Bay actually occurred in a Thursday contest, which took place at Lambeau Field on Thanksgiving Day. They swept the season series in 2016 and havent lost to the Bears since 2015.

Playing at home and not having the trouble closing the Packers do, this is already a clear advantage to the Bears. And that does not even take into account penalties, where the Packers are surely in worse shape than the Bears, because there are no penalty statistics tracked on (The Packers website tracks very intricate information like yards lost from the play nullified, but does not give a number of penalties for number of yards summary!).

SBD Predicted Score

2019 outlook:The Broncos have traded for Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco, so they have their QB for the 2019 season. However, Broncos fans aren't happy with the move because they feel like Flacco's best years are behind him.

While the Packers yield only 206.3 yards per game, ranking just above the equator (13th in the league), they have been gashed lately by New Orleans and Houston, and at key times against Carolina and Jacksonville, as well. Similar to the above match-up, this one may be more significant on paper than on the field. Chicago averages only 192.9 yards per game, ranked 22nd in the NFL, but Devin Hester has begun to show promise as a wide receiver and Kyle Orton has been solid.
